Don and Jane Smith of Tyler celebrated 50 years of marriage on Dec. 27, 2012, at Hollytree Country Club with family members. Don married the former Mary Jane Bryant on Dec. 28, 1962, at First Baptist Church in Hawkins.
They have three children Russell Smith and wife Kelley, Renee Woodard of Tyler and Roseann McDonald and husband Tommy of Salem, Va. They also have seven grandchildren, Jackson, Harrison and Mary Claire Woodard, Conner and Abby Smith all of Tyler and Savannah and Charlie McDonald of Salem, Va.
Don and Jane are members of Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler. Jane is a former elementary schoolteacher. Don served 25 years in the textile industry in various management capacities before becoming involved in full time vocational ministry. Don currently serves as a national account manager with Marketplace Chaplains USA headquartered in Plano. Don and Jane were high school and college sweethearts and their greatest enjoyment during 50 years of marriage has been spending time with their family.
